Welcome Car Guys and Girls, this is your Driver, Pete, and welcome to the very first Blog for Life Of A Car Guy!! I have been trying to think of a way where I could share my passion and experiences with Cars, and I happened to open up and scroll through my Pinterest account where I find all sorts of cool life quotes and various interests. I happened to come across some information about Blogging. Now to be honest, I have always heard about blogs, but I never really took a major interest in it, probably because I guess I felt I didn’t have time, nor did I think I had a relatable topic that I could speak on. But when I read up more about blogging and thought about how I could convey my life’s work with Cars and do it in a way that could reach a lot of people, I thought I’m gonna jump in headfirst!! (Not Literally mind you, that would really hurt lol 😊). This today will be how I will reach my fellow drivers who wanna talk about cars, share their experiences with cars and also provide my own expertise to anyone who’s looking to buy a car in the near future. So, with that being said, let’s saddle up, strap on the seat belts and let’s hit it!!
Wow!! So you know the question that I’ve asked many people before I guess I’ll pose it to myself…. “When was the first time you fell in love with Cars?” I guess it started with my Dad. I can remember when I was a very little Tyke (actually that’s my nickname that he calls me). He had these pictures of his first convertible, a forest green 1972 MGB I think and a 74 Jaguar with a cream top and silver body. He also had these toy collectible electric cars that I used to sneak away and look at in our attic even though he told me never to mess with them. But the day I truly knew I’d be a car junkie was when we were coming home from school and right at our front entrance to our home way on Bent Mountain outside of Roanoke VA, my dad looked at me, all of 3 years old and asked me if I wanted to drive us down the drive way to our house. I couldn’t answer fast enough. So, my dad hoisted me up from the passenger side of his Red Datsun 5-speed and sat me on his lap. He manned the gear shift while I steered the wheel up through our dirt/gravel drive way. It was Heaven… I was actually driving!! 3 years old, lil ol me!! I felt like a king! The next favorable memory I had with cars is when my parents bought me a red toy steering wheel with snaps that could secure into my car seat. I carried that wheel with me everywhere. My dad had an old-fashioned burgundy Wingback chair that I would sit in and place my steering wheel in the lap I’d jam a wooden handle from an ice scraper into the right side of the cushion and use it as my gear shift. I’d progress through the gears and make all sorts of road noises and honk the horn and the whole nine yards.
Cars have been a part of my life from adolescences into my adulthood and beyond and I can’t wait to share more with you next time…
See you on the Road, Car Guys and Girls…
